Non-Tenured Teachers' Mandated Staff Development
The Yonkers Public School District requires that all non-tenured
teachers receive mandated professional development as follows:
1st year teachers - 24 hours 1 in-service credit = 6 hours
2nd year teachers - 20 hours 2 in-service credits = 12 hours
3rd year teachers - 12 hours 3 in-service credits/graduate credits
= 18 hours
No more than half of these hours shall be required within the
school year beyond the school day.
The Yonkers School District has agreed that the following Teacher
Center courses are approved toward the non-tenured teachers'
staff development requirement. Teachers will receive course credit
and hours toward the non-tenured mandated
hours only upon completion of the course.

Courses that are approved for non-tenured hours are marked
by an asterisk in the Catalogue and indicated by the
credit information.
Registration procedures as outlined in the Catalogue must be followed. Some
classes are opened only to Elementary teachers, while others
are opened only
to Secondary teachers. If there is no group specified in the Catalogue, then
both Elementary
and Secondary teachers may register.
